Observation Timeliness Dashboard Status Walkthrough

Let's walk through a sample observation and show what the dashboard status looks like at each step in the process. We'll walk through the first observation, Obs.2016-2017.1. It has been sent to the teacher for final viewing, but no further action has been taken.

Observation sent to teacher. No further action has been taken.

Report Sent to Teacher Date: 10/26/2017

Once the teacher clicks the View Report button, then the teacher is given the opportunity to enter a response.

On the Timlinesss Dashboard, the Report Viewed Teacher Date has been updated to reflect the the teacher viewed the observaiton.

Report Marked Complete Date: Report Not Complete

At this point the principal is waiting for a teacher response. If the teacher chooses to enter a response, then the observation will be marked complete after the response as been submitted. Each district has their own guidelines as to the amount of time that can elapse before the observation should be marked complete. If that time has elapsed and the teacher has not entered a response, then the principal should manually mark the observation complete.

Waiting for Teacher Response

Principal View: At any time the principal can choose to manually mark the observation complete. This will lock the observation and generate the final PDF version of the report. Once the observation is locked the teacher will have access to the observation report, even if they did not respond to the request to view and respond to the observation during the earlier workflow.

We're going to switch to looking at two different observation in the Observation Timeliness Dashboard to demonstrate the two alternate pathways an observation can take.

Teacher does not enter a response

Obs 2016-2017.3 is an example of an observation that was marked complete by the principal, presumably because the teacher did not enter a response in the required time.

Teacher enters a response

Obs 2016-2017.4 is an example of an observation that was marked complete by the teacher after the teacher entered a response.
