Observation Timeliness Dashboard Overview

The observation final submission workflow has changed slightly with the introduction of the Timeliness Dashboard. The teacher is now able to add an optional response after viewing the final report. If the teacher does not add a response, then the evaluator is responsible for marking the observation complete. For more details see Observation Final Submission WorkFlow.

This article assumes that you are logged in as a Principal and are working in the Evaluate Teachers work-area within the Dashboard section.

This functionality also exists for District Evaluators and District-wide Teacher Evaluators. District Evaluators should be in the Evaluate Principals work-area.

Timeline Columns

  • Observation Date: The scheduled observation date. If there isn't a schedule date, then Missing is displayed.
  • Post-Conf Date: The scheduled post-conference date. If there isn't a schedule date, then the field is left blank. If the scheduled date has passed, then the number of days from the observation date to the scheduled post-conference date is displayed below the scheduled post-conference date.
  • Report Sent Date: The date the report was sent to the teacher for final viewing. If it has not been sent, then Report Not Sent will be displayed with the number of days since the last event (either the observation or post-conference) occurred.
  • Report Viewed Date: The date the teacher viewed the report. If it has not been viewed, then Report Not Viewed will be displayed with the number of days since the report was sent.
  • Report Marked Complete Date: The date the report was marked complete. If it has not been marked complete then Report Not Complete will be displayed with the number of days since the report was sent.

The report will be marked complete automatically if the teacher sumbits a response. Otherwise the principal must manually mark the observation complete.

The time elapsed between events excludes weekend days, but currently does not exclude holidays.

Timeline filters

  1. Open only: Exclude observations that have been marked complete.
  2. Formal only: Include formal observations only.
  3. Missing Post-Conf date only: Only include observations that are missing a Post-Conference date.
  4. Report Sent only: Include observations that have sent the report only.
  5. Highlight Past Due Events: based on the configuration settings that are expanded below the filter, apply a red label to the displayed elapsed days when it exceeds the Elapsed Days filter.

Highlighting Past Due Events

By selecting Highlight Past Due Events, the section below expands for more options.

In this example, I have changed the Elapsed Days to 3 and checked the Last Event -> Report Sent events to highlight.

This will cause the days elapsed display in the Report Sent column to display in red if the days elapsed amount exceeds three days.
