What do I need to know about eVAL roles and their work areas?

Background

Users are assigned one or more roles in the eVAL tool. Each role comes with specific "work areas" that provide the user access to various features of the tool. Here are a few important pieces of information about eVAL roles:

  1. Who sets the eVAL roles?
The District Security Manager uses OSPI's EDS tool to assign eVAL users their roles.
  2. How many roles can an eVAL user have?
There is no limit to the number of roles an eVAL user can have.
  3. Can an eVAL user have both roles at both the District level and the School level?
No. That will produce an error in the eVAL tool. While an eVAL user can have multiple roles, they must all be at the same level.
  4. What are some examples of multiple roles?

A Principal or Head Principal who evaluates teacher can also be a School Administrator who manages users, prompts and resources for a school.

A District-Wide Evaluator who evaluates teachers and principals across the district can also be the District Administrator of eVAL, who configures the eVAL tool for the entire district and who manages users, prompts and resources for the district.
